Chapter 1
Getting Caught Up

~Sara~

The room was dark, the only sound that could be heard was the dripping of water leaking from what Sara could only assume was the ceiling. Her eyes tried desperately to adapt to the darkness but it was futile, it was so dark she couldn’t even see her own hands in front of her face.

She wasn’t sure how exactly how she had gotten here. The last thing she remembered she was in the parking lot of the hospital on the phone talking to Lincoln about how Michael had finally gotten his memory back and how they had patched things up when someone had snuck up behind her, putting a rag over her mouth causing her to pass out.

Her mind instantly went to Michael. What had happened to him and whether he was suffering from the same fate she was right now. She couldn’t imagine Emily would do something like this, sure she was twisted in her own way but surely she wouldn’t have taken it this far right? But if not her then who could have possibly done this?

She didn’t have to wonder for very long because in that moment a door on the opposing wall suddenly flew open bring a harsh bright light into the room. Sara’s eyes blinked rapidly as they adjusted while a figure stepped into the room and pulled on a chain causing a bare light bulb to illuminate the rest of the room so Sara could she his face.

“I thought you were never gonna wake. Guess I went a little too heavy on the Chloroform huh. Oh well live and learn I guess” Mark gave a sadistic chuckle as he walked over to Sara who was tied up on the floor.

“You have got to be kidding me,” she said narrowing her eyes at the last man she wanted to see on Earth right now. “I thought you were supposed to be in prison?”

“Yeah well your boyfriend isn’t the only one who can break out of prison Sara. All you need to have are the right connections and getting out is simple. But lets not get into all of that, right now what I wanna talk about is you.” He said crouching down to her level.

“You just don’t give up do you? You escaped from jail just to come here and take your revenge out on me?” She leaned forward, putting her face a little closer to his “What you’re doing, this here and now, it’s pathetic.”

She watched as his face grew red in anger and continued on with a smile “What’s wrong Mark? You don’t look too happy right now. Why can’t you just admit that you’ve lost and move on?”

It was then that Mark’s anger dissipated and another wicked smile grew on his face.
“Oh Sara, the real pathetic thing here is that you think that I’ve lost. When in fact the truth is I’m more ahead of you than you realize,” he got up from his crouching position and stood in front of her.

“What are you talking about?” Sara asked with half annoyance and half concern that he wasn’t bluffing or being cocky.

“Well while you were knocked out in here I decided to have some fun of my own.” His chilling words made Sara’s stomach drop as she awaited the dreaded news.
“You remember Michael don’t you? What am I saying of course you do! Well Mike and I decided play a little game. I must say I was quite impressed at the mans drive to win, especially when you dangle the right prize in front of him. Anyway the guy technically did win the game but as they say the house always takes a cut.”

Sara struggled to keep the tears at bay as she forced herself to be strong
“What did you do to him? Where’s Michael?”
“Hard to say really. Last time I saw him I was putting 3 bullets into his chest.”
“No…” Sara’s voiced quivered as the tears finally began to fall.

“Afraid so. You should cry Sara, after all it is your fault he’s dead. You just couldn’t leave him out of this, you just couldn’t let him go, and now because of you Michael Scofield is dead. The only reason that you’re still alive is because I haven’t quite figured out what to do with you yet. So until I figure it out feel free to think of this room as your new home because you’re not going anywhere.”

He turned and walked out of the room slamming the door shut behind him firmly and sliding the deadbolt into place.

Sara’s tears where flowing freely down here face now as she gasped desperately for air.

“Oh my God what have I done?” she thought to herself as she lay down onto the floor.
